Daniel earned his degree in Liberal Studies in Education from California State University, Long Beach and went on to serve as a public educator at a Title I public charter school in Huntington Park, CA. He taught Music Appreciation and coached boys’ soccer, using creative expression and team-building strategies to inspire students to set goals and gain the skills needed to achieve them. Daniel placed a strong emphasis on helping first-time homebuyers, especially veterans, navigate the complex and often overwhelming mortgage process. His work focused on demystifying lending, promoting financial empowerment, and guiding families toward building generational wealth while avoiding common financial pitfalls.
Daniel combined his background as both an educator and a banker to serve as the Community and Homeownership Services Manager at Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. In this role, he stepped into the nonprofit sector and quickly recognized how his unique skill set could drive meaningful, community-wide change. At Habitat, Daniel led housing outreach efforts and managed compliance with federal lending and fair housing laws. Working with local elected officials and nonprofit partners, they hosted community events that educated the public about affordable housing opportunities and expanded equitable access to homeownership. It was through this experience that Daniel saw the full potential of aligning grassroots advocacy, financial education, and public policy to uplift underserved communities. Daniel’s vision is to transform fear into strength (fuerza) by creating a network of rapid-response support rooted in compassion, trust, and action.
